VA - Middle Earth, The Soundtrack Of London's Legendary Psychedelic Club 1967-1969 [2025] (3 x CDs)

Step into a time when the air was thick with swirling colors, wild ideas, and the pulse of a new sonic revolution. Middle Earth: The Soundtrack Of London's Legendary Psychedelic Club 1967-1969 is more than just a collection, it’s a portal back to a world where music wasn’t just played but lived.

This 3-CD box set, released in 2025 released by Strawberry Records, captures the magic of Middle Earth, the club that stood at the heart of London’s late-’60s underground. Originally known as The Electric Garden, Middle Earth was more than a venue, it was a meeting place for dreamers, rebels, and artists shaping the psychedelic era.

With 64 tracks, this collection takes you deep into the sounds that defined the time. UK trailblazers like Soft Machine, Fleetwood Mac, and Fairport Convention rub shoulders with American icons such as Jefferson Airplane and Captain Beefheart. The Deviants and Dantalion’s Chariot bring their own strange and wonderful flavors to the mix. Even David Bowie makes an appearance, captured in an early performance with The Riot Squad, a fleeting moment of history frozen in sound.

From The Who’s Magic Bus to Fleetwood Mac’s Black Magic Woman, every track on this set carries the spirit of an era when boundaries were meant to be broken. There’s even space for rarities, like Mabel Greer’s Toyshop, a band that would soon evolve into Yes.

This isn’t just a collection, it’s an experience. It’s a love letter to a time when music was freedom and every night felt like the beginning of something new. Middle Earth: The Soundtrack Of London's Legendary Psychedelic Club 1967-1969 invites you to step through the doors and lose yourself in the sound of history. Enjoy! (B)
