The Moody Blues - Go Now: The Moody Blues #1 (American and Canadian Version) (2025, 60th Anniversary Remastered Edition) (1965)

On 23rd July 1965 the Moody Blues released their debut album The Magnificent Moodies in the UK followed by the American/Canadian version Go Now: The Moody Blues #1 on 28th July 1965.

The debut Moody Blues album (The Magnificent Moodies in the UK, Go Now: The Moody Blues #1 in the U.S.) was vastly different in its UK and US configurations. Generally, several singles-only tracks appeared on the U.S. version but not the UK. On the other hand, "Stop!" appeared on the UK album, though it's possible that was only a single in the U.S.

Up until 2019 the American/Canadian version of the album had never been released on CD. It was finally released as a paper sleeve expanded edition by the Oldays label in Japan which included 4 bonus tracks.

The version of the opening track "I'll Go Crazy" (mistitled "I Go Crazy") is actually faster and an octave higher than the UK version and is exclusive to this release but was also featured on I Love to See You Strut; More 60s Mod, R&B, Brit Soul & Freakbeat Nuggets - a Cherry Red 3CD box set in 2022.

My 2025, 60th anniversary edition is compiled using this version from the Cherry Red set, along with the remaining 11 tracks taken from the Timeless Flight 1964-2014 15CD box set released in 2014.

All tracks are presented in their original mono form, and I think the remasters used on the (2014) Timeless Flight set actually sound better than the later (2019) Oldays reissue.

I've also included The Magnificent Moodies (50th Anniversary Deluxe Remastered Edition) released by Cherry Red in 2014 as a 2CD set with lots of bonus material to compare.
