The groups contained in this compilation are a part of a movement of improvisational rock groups, inspired by the format of the Grateful Dead's live performances and colloquially known as "jam bands", that gained considerable popularity as touring concert acts in the 1990s. The compilation contains studio recordings (1992 - 1999), for most bands they were just the starting point for live performances. Even in this basic form, the songs are excellent.

Jam bands develop songs live through improvisation, where musicians extend and vary existing song structures on stage to create unique, extended versions. They use these live performances to explore new musical ideas, jam on chord progressions or grooves, and build community with their audience. This process allows the music to evolve organically over time, with different performances offering unique explorations of the same core ideas.

Pioneers like Afrika Bambaataa and Cybotron laid the groundwork with drum machine–driven rhythms from the TR-808.

At the same time, Prince and the duo Jam & Lewis modernized funk with synthetic, sensual productions that influenced all of R’n’B and pop.

Post-new wave groups such as Duran Duran, ABC, Heaven 17 and Human League also embraced these electronic textures, bringing British pop closer to the American funk sound.

This hybridization built a bridge between club culture, hip-hop, and new wave.

Thus, electro-funk became a crucial foundation for the electronic and dance music of the 1980s.

Only Various Artists compilations will be accepted.

Only one compilation per week from each contributor with a limit of 25 tracks per track list per submission. (Total 25 tracks only). You can submit a new track list the following week.

The Topic is your choice, Genre is your choice and any music is acceptable. (If readers don't like the topic or choices then they don't have to pick them up)

 When presenting your submission, the Topic of your compilation should be Noted as well as the sound quality of the compilation. (i.e., 320Kbps MP3, Flac, etc).

Whilst most would prefer MP3's @ 320 kbps all I request is a good sound quality. 

A track list must be supplied together with a LINK for your Compilation.  (Please do not send the compressed file)

Artwork is not necessary but would be welcomed. All submissions need to arrive via email to:

Entries must be received by Midnight, Wednesday. (Wherever you are in the world.)

Once received, your entries will be checked for content matching the track lists provided. If an entry is considered unsafe or different to the track list provided it will be deleted. If your submissions are outside the guidelines they will not be included (No questions asked and no reply)
