VA - Mod, The Early Years Vol. 01 [2014]          This compilation boasts 112 tracks, the vast majority of which were released while Mod was still an underground phenomenon (some actually pre-date it). I wasn't around at the time and can't say how many were mod favourites, but it's all good listening. What you get for your money is a mix of blues, R'n'B, doo-wop, jazz and early soul, with a smattering of ska for good measure. Several tracks were B-sides, so you won't find too many in your existing collection. The blurb on the box says "Digitally remastered and enhanced for superior quality", and for once it's true.  (Amazon)

VA - Mod, The Early Years Vol. 02 [2015]          Whereas the bulk of the tracks on volume 1 are drawn from 1960 and 1961, volume 2 focuses on 1962 and 1963. The content is very similar, a fine selection of blues, R'n'B, doo-wop, jazz, early soul and ska. It contains some very well-known titles (Green Onions once again!), but there are plenty of rarities and B-sides as well, and in my opinion it's even better than volume 1.  A superb selection of Mod related songs.  (Amazon)

VA - Mod, The Early Years Vol. 03 [2017]           What a fantastic collection of songs. You really owe it to yourself to get this set. All the tracks are either great or good. Check-out for example "Broken Heart" by The Fiestas, or "Rough Lover" by Aretha Franklin and then listen to "Seven Day Fool" by Etta James. Wow!! These are just a few of the gems that wait for your ears. If you love soul, you will love this set of four CDs Vol's 1 and 2 are also great and recommended.  It's up for debate whether or not you think these are all mod tracks or not, but these sets are full of great tracks.  (Amazon)
