Brilliant.....
ReplyDeleteNirvana (original) included too!
Lovely story of Arthur Brown performing "Fire" with his specially designed head gear that was set alight! Apparently it became rather hot and burnt his head!!!
True or not....great story...and he was a crazy performer.
This track comes from a great 1968 album too.
Cheers
Stephen
That's true about Arthur Brown. He said it on a documentary about the 60s, but I can't remember what it was called, but it was repeated on Sky or the BBC a couple of years ago
DeleteI've heard that too.
DeleteWikepedia says : During live performances and in the black and white promotional television clip, Brown performed the song wearing a burning helmet. The helmet was improvised with a leather skull cap onto which was bolted a metal dish that held lighter fluid or petrol. As the cap was not insulated, the heat from the burning fuel quickly conducted through the fixing bolt to the top of Brown's head, causing him considerable pain. Brown claims that the flames got up to 4 feet high and at one point caught fire to his clothes during a performance...
Cheers
A "crazy" man indeed!
