The 2022 box set gathers the complete output of the Black & White label, a company active through the forties that recorded in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. What makes the collection so compelling is the way it captures a moment when jazz was shifting from one era to the next, yet still holding tight to the voices that shaped its foundation.

The early discs move through piano‑led groups, where stride and small‑group swing still guide the rhythm.
