Beat - The English Beat, Complete Beat [2012] (5xCD's)

Shout! Factory reissued the entire catalog of the great British ska/new wave band, The English Beat. The band's first-ever box set (5xCD's) The Complete Beat, which contains every commercially released song from their heyday, plus two discs of Bonus Beat a CD of 12" mixes and dubs and a disc of Peel Sessions and four cuts live from a November 1982 gig in Boston.

An AllMusic review in June 2012 said "Shout! Factory's The Complete Beat is the kind of deluxe set that fans would dream about but never expect to happen: a five-disc set containing expanded remastered versions of all three of the group's albums, " and "their recordings retain a visceral force that makes The Complete Beat something more than a dream come true for fans: it is a convincing argument for their greatness."

The English Beat is one of the most under-rated bands ever. I've waited for this for so long and it's exactly what I was hoping for. The remastering is excellent, and the extras are right on. Finally, I have the single "Which Side Of The Bed" again, I wore it out a long time ago on cassette tape and I have never been able to find it again, until now. Even if you are only a casual fan, get it; you will find so many gems here. Highly recommended. (Amazon)
