  1. Alright, I'm just saying... when it comes to 70s retrospective series this collection is pretty much the Cat's Pajamas, and you know how cool those are! When CD1 starts out with Spiral Staircase and closes with Mountain you know the compilers are trying to make a statement. The 70s were especially great and diverse. What I like most about this collection, besides it's vastness, is the inclusion of many of the more obscure musical morsels to hit the 70s airwaves, songs and some artists, that were maybe less played or recognized, but still keenly treasured. For me, that would include: Billy Joe Royal, Tea Set, Bobby Sherman, Ray Price, Daddy Dewdrop, The Pipkins one-off, Five Man Electrical Band, Sweathog, Hurricane Smith, Austin Roberts, Clint Holmes, Michael Murphy, Starbuck, Engelbert's "After The Lovin'", Michael Johnson, Nigel Olssen, Toby Beau, Player, Roger Voudouris, LeBlanc & Carr's "Falling", and others. Certainly there's other obscurities it'd be nice to see like: "Summer Sun" by Jamestown Massacre, "1900 Yesterday" by Liz Damon & The Orient Express, and "Can't Find The Time" by Rose Colored Glass (all from the early 70s, those). Still... this is a set that is remarkably well-balanced (at least for the USA). You know they could have gotten a lot more than 12 songs onto each of those CDs tho, but hey... BB has known me to say this before... you know any collection that includes Edison Lighthouse is gonna be a great one! That's just the way it is... end of story. Between this and Have A Nice Decade...what a week of 70s remembrance... thanks again, to ButterBoy!

    1. BB... In your track list... remove "12 Ian Gomm - Hold On" from CD21 as he is already properly on CD22.

Looking over that list again I neglected to call out great inclusions like Flying Machine, Cuff Links, Brian Hyland, Danny O'Keefe, and the inimitable Gino Vannelli, although I prefer his "Wheels Of Life" better. It's true this set is geared to represent the plethoric variety of 70s POP. You won't find the heavy stuff here.
But as Ray Stevens sings... '"Everything Is Beautiful" ...and with this 25 volume nostalgic set... it truly is!

  2. MrRadio, I fully subscribe to your comments. The richness of these compilations is incredible... especially for people who think they have been around the 70s (this is not my case, far from it). Thank you for the additional information you provide.

  3. Not a great fan of the '70s, I almost lost interest when Disco arrived, but fortunately there's more to that decade than that. and there's gems in "da disco" too. In another light I wonder if you have superpowers, or a way to create extra hours in any given day. It takes a lot of organization to maintain a blog - even a small one, and then there's the "putting together" of the musical side of it too. Add to that your hardware meltdown and it's obvious you must have some form of superpower. However, many thanks for your dedication and perseverance in the face of unexpected meltdowns. And you do this on a tablet too! Salutations and sincere thanks.

  6. This is a great series, BB. Thank you so much. I'm curious as to whether I'm the only one who has an issue with "Dance With Me", track 9 on disc 17. There's a scratchiness or interference, for want of a better description, that persists through most of the song, but is most noticeable early on.

    1. Hi ronzoni.
I just listened to the track and don't get what you suggest. Here is a new link for that song.
