The Rock Don't Run series from Eddie Angel's (The Planet Rockers, Los Straitjackets, The Neanderthals) own label, Nashville's Spinout Records are some of the coolest comps you'll find anywhere. These tend to feature songs available elsewhere, but that doesn't take away from the good taste he shows when putting them together. The artwork for the series is very cool, the label-side of the CD has been made to look like a vintage vinyl 45.  All of this series is currently out of print.

Volume 1 is Twangeriffic! Here is the hard-to-find collection of hard-to-find instumental tracks from the 90's surf revival. Most of the groups are not that well-known, although a few, such as Laika and the Cosmonauts and Los Straitjackets, have a sizeable cult following. The songs are excellent for the most part. If you like the Ventures, Duane Eddy, etc. but haven't listened to some of their modern disciples, then give this a try. You won't be disappointed. (Amazon)

Volume 2 is another fine collection. A little less trad-sounding this time around, but still a fantastic example of what is going on in the world of instro music. You really travel from one end of the spectrum to the other, from trad to Link Wray. We get to hear some good stuff from Four Piece Suit, especially "A Shot in the Dark." "Under The Gun" is surf and mystery from Dayton, Ohio's Mulchmen. It's moody and smooth, dangerous and playful. Very nice track. "Big Nasty," also by The Mulchmen, is big guitar surf and shred meanness, riff-driven and nicely arranged. Five bands contribute two tracks each. If you are looking for some really different instrumental rock, then Vol. 2 is also a must-have. 

Volume 3 embodies a lot of different sounds and bands including The Fathoms, The Insect Surfers, The Tiki Tones, Sir Bald Diddley, The Omega Men ("Sack O'Woe", one of their BEST tracks), Jon & The Nightriders, The Space Cossacks, The Untamed Youth, The Huntington Cads, Satan's Pilgrims, The Halibuts, and The Boss Martians ("More Booze, Less Ice", from the INTOXICATING SOUNDS... EP) and highlights a variety of stomp-worthy tracks.
