BB LUCKY DIP #167

BB LUCKY DIP #167

Lucky Dip's will be a mystery gift to those who choose to pick them up.

Today's topic: GOOD WEIRD

Stephen's Quote of The Day:    "It was our attempt at voice synthesis," explained Cecil.

“Bob is trained as a tenor. He’s an operatic tenor. So he has all the understanding of the vocal melodic lines. I was playing on the keyboard and Bob was creating the words and we worked together to create the sound that ended up being the vocal which is somewhat unintelligible.

We had terrible difficulty making consonants and Ks and the one thing that still irks me to this day that I’ve always wanted to fix was the line in there which is the whole major line of the whole thing. It says, ‘I’m the river, but I’m not the current.’ And it comes out, ‘I am the errant.’"

  1. [Before Vocoders and electronic sound modelling, Cecil and Margouleff created electronic voices on the track “Riversong.”]

    2. There are some wonderful stories around about Tonto's Expanding Head.....
There was quite a bit odf involvement with Stevie Wonder.
Unfortunately Malcolm Cecil left us last year after what I understood was a long illness.....he was 84.
I believe Robert Margouleff is still going...he collaborated with Robert Moog early on and was invilved in "factory" (Andy Warhol)
So many future influences can be heard in this wonderful album.
TONTO is now in Studio Bell - National Music Centre Canada

      Cheers
