Sensations' Fix is an Italian progressive rock/electronic musical ensemble led by Franco Falsini. Falsini, born in Italy, moved to Virginia in 1969, where he set up a basement studio and experimented with a Moog and four-track taping before returning to Italy to form a band. The group signed with Polydor Records in 1974 to a five-year, six-album contract. Sensations' Fix music remained out of print for many years, but in 2011, Naso Freddo was reissued by the Spectrum Spools label. In 2012, RVNG Records reissued some Sensations' Fix material along with alternate mixes and unreleased tracks on the compilation Music Is Painting in the Air (1974-1977). (Wikipedia)

Falsini and his band Senations' Fix deserve to be talked about. This two-cd compilation of material from SF's prime era is a must own! Swirling electronics- moogs and ambient layered guitars meet sparse drumming and occasional hushed vocals! The material is stellar- the last two tracks on cd two and all the cuts from the fragments of light album are some of the best cosmic music I've heard! Nothing drags on too long and the hazy sometimes lofi recordings are at one moment dated but futuristic at the same time! Only a track or two to me seemed weak. The rest all held my attention! Apparently Falsini put out a solo record called Cold Nose- some of the tracks are featured here! This is what I call a mellow prog band, it's hard to fault this compilation. The title track is just brilliant. Fans of early Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, Camel or Caravan will enjoy this compilation.

"Music Is Painting in the Air" containing selections from five albums (plus a few outtakes), and some from main songwriter Franco Falsini's solo album. It's amazing to me the amount of ground it covers, from pure rock-based psychedelia, to Krautrock, to Brian Eno-esque ambient soundscapes, and a couple tracks that sound like forebears to the post-rock "scene" of the mid-late 90's, beating bands such as Tortoise and The Sea and Cake to the punch by 20 years. All of the songs require a decent set of headphones to fully appreciate the Innerspace mini journeys contained within. At times I couldn't tell if I was listening to a guitar freak-out, or insane synthesizer work, but in the end, I just let myself go to the point that I swear I was having little eyelid hallucinations during the more hypnotic numbers.
