Originally found a list of tracks by either well known Artists from not so well received albums or Artists that were considered great for about 15 minutes, then subsequently fell off the Radar. Some extremely hard to find and rare tracks. Fortunately, I have all these albums to create this compilation

This compilation doesn’t just dig deep, it tunnels straight into the heart of forgotten brilliance. Across six discs, Forgotten Gems offers a kaleidoscope of sound, spanning psych, glam, post-punk, synth-pop, indie, and alt-rock, with rarities and overlooked treasures that deserve a second (or first) listen.

Volume 1 opens with 10cc’s theatrical epic “Une Nuit A Paris,” a pre-Bohemian Rhapsody suite that’s pure art-rock indulgence. From there, it’s a wild ride: Billy Preston’s gospel-funk “That’s The Way God Planned It (Parts 1 & 2)” on Apple Records, Free’s unused mono mix of “I’m A Mover,” and George Harrison’s bonus track cover of Dylan’s “Love Minus Zero, No Limit” (a quiet gem from the Living in the Material World sessions). Felt’s “Something Sends Me to Sleep” adds a whisper of indie melancholy, while Matching Mole’s “O Caroline” brings Canterbury prog charm. The inclusion of UNKLE’s “Rabbit in Your Headlights” featuring Thom Yorke is a curveball, dark, cinematic, unforgettable.

Volume 2 leans into the ’80s and early ’90s. Sandy Stewart’s “Saddest Victory” is a standout, haunting and hard to find. Louise Tucker’s “Midnight Blue,” released on Ariola, blends classical and synth-pop in a way that shouldn’t work but absolutely does. Art of Noise’s “Moments in Love” appears twice: the 6-minute version and the sprawling 10-minute cut, both essential. Koo De Tah’s “Too Young for Promises,” a cult Aussie synth-pop hit from 1986, gets a deserved spotlight. And don’t miss Deodato’s “S.O.S., Fire in The Sky” featuring Camille, a cosmic jazz-funk burner from the WEA vaults.

Volume 3 is pure ’90s alt-radio gold. Plush’s “Found A Little Baby” is a lo-fi masterpiece, while Clouds’ “Hieronymus” and Not From There’s “Sich Öffnen” showcase Australia’s underground edge. The Beta Band’s “Inner Meet Me” and Mansun’s “Wide Open Space” are cult classics, and Primitive Radio Gods’ “Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth…” still hits with its eerie sample and existential mood. Even the poppier picks, Jennifer Paige’s “Crush,” Billie Myers’ “Kiss The Rain”, feel fresh in this context.

This compilation set is a reclamation. Every track has a story, a label, a moment. One listen won’t be enough, and with this much depth, you’ll be craving more. (B)
