Tee Set - She Likes Weeds, Collected [2011] (2 x CD's)

TEE SET

Tee Set - She Likes Weeds, Collected [2011] (2 x CD's)

Tee-Set was a fantastic group who did not get much exposure in the US. They would have been a bit hit if they had. Great songs, wonderful musicians and Peter Tetteroo's vocals could not be beat! Talent all around! This CD set is beautifully packaged, well laid out and provides a great deal of information about this wonderful group. They do good work in the Netherlands! (Amazon)

With all 22 Top 40 Hits, many singles and album tracks that have not previously been released on CD, more than two and a half hours of sublime sound quality, track by track information, liner notes, previously unreleased photos, beautiful Digi-Book packaging.  The Tee-Set with Peter Tetteroo as singer is one of the most successful pop groups in the Netherlands. They have been in the Dutch Top 40 no less than 22 times. She Likes Weeds reached the top spot. Ma Belle Amie was not only one of the few Dutch records high in the American top 10, it was also a world hit. The Tee-Set enjoyed popularity in many countries. On this double CD all hits and the best LP tracks of the Tee-Set can be found for the first time; 25 tracks / performances have never been released on CD before. In addition, the sound is of optimal quality: All songs have been remastered from the original studio masters and sound like never before. Some tracks are extra special. The opening track Ma Belle Amie is a new version of The Skankin 'Monks (in an attractive reggae jacket), with the original vocals of Peter Tetteroo. This this song is supported by a clip and released as a single. When This Battle Is Over was performed on April 2, 1973 in the hundredth broadcast of the TV program AVRO's TopPop. It would be the new Tee-Set single, but it didn't. Don't You Leave, For Miss Caulker, Midnight Hour, She Likes Weeds and Ma Belle Amie have been remixed from the studio tapes (three and eight tracks) for this compilation. Enjoy and keep enjoying all those strong songs with which the group from Delft conquered at home and abroad! (www.bol.com)

  2. Wow that Ma Belle Amie is totally different than the one released in the US. The remix is much closer but it also has differences as well. Nice to be introduced to them as I've only heard their hit here (Ma Belle Amie) in the US.

    1. Hi Philo,
There are a few versions out there. We always get used to the original versions we grew up with, so it is nice to hear alternate versions. Enjoy this Tee Set box.

      Cheers.

  5. This sounds like a long overdue time to investigate the group. I am guilty of being completely ignorant about them and yet, the famous U.S. single is very much responsible for who I am today. They my have only had that one moment, but, it was so well timed that it is still making ripples on the surface. I am always intrigued by greatness getting passed over in the fickle U.S.-of-A.! Thank you, ever so kindly, Butterboy! Sincerely, KC

    2. Indeed, I am late for everything. I have just made a quick rummage through THE CRATE and was impressed by the impending doom for so many links to greatness. This is my second visit and I am quite fascinated that the AndYourBirdCanSwing blog had to vectored me to you much earlier. I shall be as regular as my 'schedule' allows me to be as some of my obligations are not recreational. Regardless, this blog is very much my cup of tea and I thank you for you words of encouragement. Beautiful job!!! Thanks, again. KC
