Past & Present have gathered together in one box set all five volumes of the infamous series of British Psych classics that inspired the likes of Phil Smee, and others, to go on to produce more-legitimate collections of similar material. Collected here are all of the 82 classic Chocolate Soup tracks spanning favourites by Tintern Abbey, Apple, Tickle, Smoke, Fleur De Lys, with highlights by lesser-known artists such as Boo & the Boo-Boos, Perishers, Graded Grains, Australian Playboys, plus many, many more. The set also includes an informative 36-page booklet with artists' details, discographies and photographs. Chocolate Soup makes good addition to the Past & Present catalogue of box sets featuring re-issues of other classic material in a similar manner. As with previous Past & Present releases the source material can be variable - but all tracks sound better than my old 45's!! Chocolate Soup is a limited numbered release of 1000. Superior assortment of some of the best obscure psych singles ever. Most are British (a few US groups are included too). The track 'Night To Remember' by Alan Avon, a really great track about the sinking of the Titanic, is a standout, that cannot be found elsewhere.
