VA - Whistle Me A Tune (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2+CD3

Whistling without the use of an artificial whistle is achieved by creating a small opening with one's lips, usually after applying moisture and then blowing or sucking air through the space. The air is moderated by the lips, curled tongue, teeth or fingers to create turbulence, and the curled tongue acts as a resonant chamber to enhance the resulting sound by acting as a type of Helmholtz resonator. By moving the various parts of the lips, fingers, tongue and epiglottis, one can then manipulate the types of whistles produced. (Wikipedia)

Whistling is an art indeed. It is used not only as a way to sound music but also as a language. When talking about whistling music mainly, it is something everyone and anyone might have witnessed. People whistle casually, and whistling is music in itself. Artists have created the most famous music by just unconsciously whistling.

Whistling adds a little extra to a song. Some songs lean in to open a song, some songs have prominent whistling throughout and others are found midway through a song while others like to end a tune. Whether it’s for dramatic effect or simply that the singer wants to create a sound that unites us, whistling has shown itself to be a useful embellishment that the songwriter has at their disposal.

Whistling is one of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful noise made by a human’s humble vocal cords. Whistling is like a kiss for sound. There is practically a whistling song for every aspect of life. Many artists have integrated songs with melodious whistling. Our hearing senses are delighted by this sound its musicality to keep us entertained.

Here are a bunch of tracks that contain whistling in Rock and Pop music that you will love to whistle to. If not, just sing along. Enjoy!
