This definitive and authentic account of the British R&B beat boom features over 170 tracks, including previously unreleased recordings, scarce export-only releases, and insanely rare UK 45s. The set also includes a 96-page full-color booklet with comprehensive liners, interviews, anecdotes, and rare photos. The music in this set is some of the wildest, most frantic garage band blues/R&B/beat music from the sixties in Britain. While some of the groups featured may be familiar to fans of British sixties rock, such as The Nashville Teens and The Pretty Things, many are relatively unknown. The vocals are delivered with attitude, the harmonica work is rough but exciting, the drumming is straightforward and pushes the music forward, and the guitars are cranked up and played with plenty of attitude and ferocity.
