MESSAGE 19th July 2020 READERS POLL #2 Final List

MESSAGE 19th July 2020          READERS POLL #2

Thank you to all who participated in the Readers Poll Desert Island Album Choices.

Its been an interesting ride for me. I hope will will enjoy the final product.

Your choices are wonderful. Whilst I have my personal choices I was also interested in seeing what you put forward as a Desert Island Album. What makes this exercise so powerful and rewarding for me is that I get to revisit those albums I may have glossed over previously. I find it hard to say that there is something in this list that is unworthy. Irrespective of your choice I have every track as chosen. Thanks to D for the missing two albums I did not have.

I will work on a Compilation of your track to be presented in the near future. As far as full albums go I am working on how to get these collated and placed on the blog . I will probably create a list of links for each album and present them as a Readers Choice Crate. (This may take a little while to come to fruition...)

 Anyhow, below are your choices.

Butterboy

  2. What a sick, amazing list. I stripped off all the songs on my phone and I'm waiting for this download to be available. This will be my sole listening list for the next few days. At home, in my car, and yes, my desert isle. Thanks to all for your input and especially our maestro Butterboy for making this happen. Cheers to all.
    Love the art work BB!

  3. This list will make tremendously great listening. Looking forward to it but also aware and grateful for the immense workload you've let yourself in for.

  4. What an insanely great list! So much I know and love, so much I don't know and can't wait to get to know!

I love that others appreciate Donovan's Open Road album; I laughed with delight to see "Stairway to Gilligan's Island" included.

This will be a magnum opus for sure. Can't wait for you to put it together. Thanks in advance!

  6. My first reaction was, "What a task to undertake, for the pure love of music"...

My second thought was, "What a great idea for something to do during the Vid lockdown (depending on where you live)!

We were sitting around with some friends (social distancing, of course) discussing your project when the question was asked, "What was the first LP/CD you ever purchased (to keep...not received or gave as a gift)?

A spirited discussion ensued. For me, my first LP was so far back in the distant past "when I wore a younger man's clothes" that I couldn't say with certainty... but I do remember the first CD I purchased and why. Then we branched off into first ones you bought for your girlfriend, etc.

Anyway, this is just an illustration to show you the paths you can wander down when inspired by your idea/project/gift...

Thanks again. Can't wait to be introduced to some of these tracts that I don't know.

  7. Freddy:

First album I ever got as a gift: Sounds of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel.
First album I ever bought with my own money: Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles

  8. What an amazing project! Thanks for doing this.

I couldn't submit my choices to the next to last day 'cause I kept changing my mind.

It was a lot of fun reliving some artists that are among my favorites that I haven't actually listened to for a long time.
