VA - Desert Island Album, Readers Poll Song Choice (A Butterboy Compilation) (10 x CD's)

READERS POLL 2 DESERT ISLAND SONGS

VA - Desert Island Album, Readers Poll Song Choice (A Butterboy Compilation) (10 x CD's)

On 4th July I posted a message to readers of this blog to post there favorite Desert Island Albums and Choose a song from each of those albums. The responses concluded on the 19 July.

Firstly, let me say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. I am truly grateful to all of those readers who participated and contributed their choices in the Readers Poll No2. Your selections make for a  wonderful listening experience.

It could not have been an easy task for many of you. To reduce a life long listening to music down to a single choice is near impossible.  For me, I struggled as there is so much music I explore, always finding new and wonderful music. I think maybe in the future we can do this again for a particular decade or year. (I can hear the minds ticking already.)

I am now pleased to present the 230 great songs that were submitted. Amazingly there were only a few duplications. The diversity of artist and genres is wonderful. To categorize these tracks into genre or year or musical style was so difficult and was abandoned by me. I have listened to all these tracks that way and have found it very enjoyable. I like listening to eclectic music. I hope you will be happy and surprised by the sound of the 10 CD's that were generated.

(Previously I suggested I would create a link for every album from this compilation.  As it is a mammoth job copying and tagging each album, I may do this at a later date.  The albums total 30Gb of files. Thanks for your understanding)

For those who are interested in Stats you will some them at the end of post.

Here are your VA - Desert Island Album, Readers Poll Song Choices. Enjoy!

  3. OH MY!!!! This is exhausting just reading the list, because I have a wealth of "oh yeahs" and I start humming the songs I know and recognize that I probably overlooked those in my selection process...and, of course, a ton of songs I've never heard or rarely heard. A magnificent accomplishment!

  10. Wow, I've been wating for this, it's amazing!

I would just recommend that everyone move "I Know You Rider" by the Grateful Dead right after their "China Cat Sunflower" as they flow right into each other and are meant to be heard as one track.

  11. I've just spent many minutes reading the track list and I'm even more excited - so many tracks here I already love and so many I don't know and can't wait to hear!

Truly a labor of love, you are a gentleman and a scholar.

  16. Gonna grill & chill and listen to some great tunes... Thanks for your time & effort.

One "correction" note: your Track lists need some slight adjustments to mirror the CDs
    Tracks 67-69 are on CD03...listed as CD04
    Track 207 is on CD09...listed as CD10

  20. WHEW!!!

    This looks wonderful.

I'm hoping the pixeldrain link is still working. (Seems to be.) Each of the Zippyshare links show, "File not found on this server."

  27. Butterboy, just as an FYI, I was able to download via pixeldrain yesterday, though I kept getting "not on this server" message from zippyshare. Since no one else mentioned the problem, I tried later with the same result. Out of curiosity, today I tried a zippyshare link and it was working fine, so I have no idea what was going on yesterday.

Thanks again for all your effort. I'm particularly interested in hearing the music I'm unfamiliar with.

  28. 7 to 8,000 a day, that's scary and commendable BB. Well done for sticking with it over the years to build up that fan-base :) I couldn't contribute to this as I could never whittle a massive album collection down to one and then one track (sorry), but hat off to those who could (and this project did get me thinking about various 'rare' albums etc) :) Of all the projects I've seen you complete in 'our' short time together, this is probably the most courageous. You opened the door so wide on this one. I just want to congratulate you for taking this 'one' on. Just an idea - what if for a 2nd series, you picked the song off each person's D. I. album?

I find the 'Stats' very interesting, thanks for showing them.

  29. Thanks you everyone above who have left a generous comments and kind words. It is truly appreciated.
So nice to see people who didn't contribute, for whatever reason, offer comments and support. This community of readers seems to be having fun. For that alone I thank you all.

    Cheers.

  31. Yo B.B. ...

While listening to some of your Desert Island disks a youngster I know "discovered" 12-Bar Blues and was hooked (T'was a joy to watch).

Do you have, know of, or would consider creating a compolation of some great 12 Bar blues?

    1. Hi Freddy,
Could be on the cards, Keep checking in the future.
Watching a young person pick up on a revelation in music, seeing their eyes widen and hearing their praises is a wonderful experience.

      Cheers.

    2. Thanks B.B.,
I thought of you first because you seem to have just about everything (thank God it's digital now or you'd probably need a warehouse)...
After I contacted you, I did some searching and found a few listings for a set entitled "100% Blues Ballads And Slow Blues (5CD) (2020)"
The only websites I could find that had it all seemed to be somewhere east of Germany, and I couldn't get a download from any of them...but I was able to get the track lists and it sounds like a great collection of 250 songs (5 CD's with 50 tracks per CD) some I have, most I don't but it does give me a road map to artists and songs I didn't have or are unfamiliar with.
If you can get it, I think you'd enjoy it, if not at least check out the track list!

    3. Hi Freddy I don't know the one you mentioned. Send me a link for the site, I would like to see what the albums is about. Or maybe a Discogs link will suffice.

      Cheers.
