  2. I have viewed the Debut Album as something that should always have artistic merit.
After all it’s the songs and tunes that an artist has often been working on and playing to an audience for some time (often years) before recording.

It’s the Second Album that always intrigued me... sometimes described as the "difficult" one!
This was inevitably the album written on the road, touring the first album....Recorded in a hurry to get the next single out and tour (again) with the new (and older) material.
I love many of these "difficult" second albums.
One of my favourite albums (ever) is Elvis Costello & Attractions "This Yeas Model" a perfect example of how things used to be done....and brilliant too!

How about a "Difficult Second Album" Dip!?

    Stay Safe
    Happy New Year
    Cheers
    Stephen

    2. What I failed to mention was that you did not include the first Elvis Costello Album in this "Lucky Dip".
The fantastic "My Aim Is True"......Recorded by the great Nick Lowe and with a band essentially Clover, who I believe ended up with Huey Lewis & News, Lucinda Williams, Doobie Brothers and Toto!
      Theres probably irony in there!?

Anoter great theme would be anything touched by the wonderful Nick Lowe.

      Happy New Year
      Cheers

  4. Just wanted to thank you for this and a year's worth of great music that has helped in these trying times! Really interesting choices with Perkins and Haley too -- very glad to be able to hear those ones that I would have overlooked otherwise.
