BB LUCKY DIP's #140

Lucky Dip's will be a mystery gift to those who choose to pick them up.

Today's links: VERTIGO Albums    Part 15  (141 - 150)

“… it was clear that nobody was expecting anything like this. Many wouldn’t have heard any prog rock before, or had only heard the kind of prog that gave the genre a bad name. This was a performance to convert the sceptics.” ...Bob Leiser.

Vertigo Records is a record company that originated in the United Kingdom. It was a subsidiary of the Philips/Phonogram record label, launched in 1969 to specialize in progressive rock and other non-mainstream musical styles. Today it is operated by Universal Music Germany, and the UK catalogue was folded into Mercury Records, which was absorbed in 2013 by Virgin EMI Records, which was renamed back to EMI Records in June 2020.

  2. Just fantastic.....

Nazareth LP in UK originally released on Mooncrest (Records) who interestingly were marketed by Trojan Records!
I think that "Mooncrest" would be worth taking a look at as a record label, they had some interesting artists and releases.

Vertigo of course was through Philips (UK) and Phonogram / Mercury.....Universal now!

Heres a good bit of info !?
A new album recently released (2022) by - Duo Játékok – "Plays Rammstein" on LP and CD is a Vertigo release with the (possibly) Cat # 0000. May be worth checking on this?

    Stay safe
    Cheers
    Stephen

Hi DB. As previous I truly appreciate your comments and tweak's that will make these vertigo posts more accurate. I won't comment on all your messages but please know they are accepted.
With reference to Missing albums. They are as follows:
      141 Kiyoshi Hasegawa - In Concert [1974]
142 Captain Hiro and the Space Band - Lost or Found [1974]
      146 Freeway 75 - Boozed [1974]
Also, I don't have an upcoming album.
Chris Jagger - The Adventures of Valentine Vox the Ventriloquist
As a final request. Do you have a chronological VERTIGO list that you feel I should use for more accuracy.
      Cheers.

  9. Bonsoir de France, Butterboy !

Re missing albums (141, 142 & 146) : I do not have these LPs in my collection (sorry !).
It is the same for Chris Jagger.
However I actually try to find and buy them.
    I will keep you informed.

Re chronological list : to make my own list, I took the one from Vertigo Records, Wikipedia, Discogs and more.
Then I complete with the informations I found (missing references for example). It's a very long and tedious job. Not yet ended. I will send it to you when the definitive list will be ready.
I will need your address mail.

Salut, Dominique (from Reims, vive le Champagne !)
