VA - Get My Riff, 50 Best Guitar Riffs (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1 + CD2
The opening riff is usually the most memorable parts of the song, and although not always difficult to play, it's enough to determine the lasting appeal of these recordings. There’s something about a powerful guitar riff (as opposed to a guitar solos) that creates a sound so cool it leave an impression so strong that when you hear the first strum of the cord that you will instantly recognize the song. Something inside you says Yeah, give me more. It feels like pure magic.
I thought this would be easy to pull together a compilation, but it was harder than I imagined. There are so many great riffs in rock music (of course some are more vivid in your mind than others) that I often felt disappointed to leave one out. You could include hundreds of more songs for that special riff alone. So here I have included the most famous and iconic riffs mixed with a few surprises.
This list is in no particular order. I have also tried to cover a broad spectrum of artists and genres. What are my personal favorites, doesn't really matter, What I have gone for is that instant rush of excitement that you get when the song starts and the need to hear more.
Don't knock the rock riff. Enjoy!
