Paul Weller - Long Long Road, Paul Weller Deep Cuts (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2+CD3

Paul John Weller (born 25 May 1958) is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Weller achieved fame with the punk rock/new wave/mod revival band The Jam. He had further success with the blue-eyed soul music of The Style Council (1983–1989), before establishing himself as a solo artist in 1991.  Despite widespread critical recognition as a singer, lyricist, and guitarist, Weller has remained a national, rather than international, star and much of his songwriting is rooted in British culture. He is also the principal figure of the 1970's and 1980's mod revival and is often referred to as "The Modfather".

The Daily Telegraph said of Weller: "Apart from David Bowie, it's hard to think of any British solo artist who's had as varied, long-lasting and determinedly forward-looking a career." The BBC described Weller in 2007 as "one of the most revered music writers and performers of the past 30 years". In 2012, he was among the British cultural icons selected by artist Sir Peter Blake to appear in a new version of his most famous artwork – the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover – to celebrate the British cultural figures of his life. He has received four Brit Awards, winning the award for Best British Male twice, and the 2006 Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

I really do not think there has been a bad Paul Weller Album. Here are some his best Deep Cuts (mainly Solo) from across his brilliant catalog.

  1. Hi BB, good selection. Many thanks. But why wasn't "You Do Something To Me" included? Is it only my favorite?

  4. Interesting selection, reminds me of when I put my Weller playlist on shuffle.

I confess that one of the things I admire about the man is something beyond his music, in that he is often so welcoming, encouraging and even promoting of other bands. He may be a tad famous for his unpleasant words about certain artists, but the list of those he has helped far exceeds those that he may have mocked after a few pints.

    1. Hi D'artagnan.
It nice to hear those tracks that rarely get airplay. These hits are great, but the deep cuts seem to be the ones I gravitate to. Also, thanks for your comment.
      Cheers.

  5. Brilliant stuff, thanks so much for posting, what a great collection. Saw Weller live in Rome, Italy last month and he was on fire. Great backing band and his voice is still pitch perfect.
