Jah Wobble – Redux Anthology 1978-2015 [2015] (6 x CD's)

JAH WOBBLE

Jah Wobble – Redux Anthology 1978-2015 [2015] (6 x CD's)

Ever since he emerged with PiL in 1978, Jah Wobble has carved a unique and very charismatic niche, drawing on musical styles such as dub, jazz and world music. With 92 tracks in total, Redux is the first ever box set of Wobble's music, a comprehensive celebration spanning nearly 40 years of recordings.  This box set is that it is themed, i.e. all the styles in which Wobble has dabbled have their own disc.  Helping along the way are collaborators like Sinead OConner and Baba Maal. Wobble’s wife, Chinese harp virtuoso Zi Lan Liao, deserves a notable mention as she is featured on several of the discs. This box set has it all Jazz, Rock, Reggae, Non-Music, Folk, World, & Country. Disc 1 is "Hits," Disc 2 is "80's," Disc 3 is "World," Disc 4 "Jazz," and 5 "Ambient and Spoken Word." The sixth disc consists of a new album of newly recorded cover versions. Since Wobble never met a boundary he wouldn't cross, there is a lot of stylistic cross-over. Contrary to most musicians Jah Wobble, like wine, gets better as he ages (pick up Chinese Dub, Psychic Life, 7 or Anomic if you doubt what I say). Since Miles Davis, Sun Ra and Augustus Pablo have ascended, it just good old Wobble left. And we can only thank Jah (pun intended) that Wobble is still alive. Jah Wobble is the last of the dinosaurs. He has a unique talent for music and this compilation showcases that talent very well. (Amazon)

If you’re new to Wobble this box set would be an ideal, albeit costly, way to get to know the man and his music. It’s a ‘redux’ of his entire musical career. If you’re a fan of any sorts, this box set is a must buy. It’s a treasure trove of good music, which will yield hundreds if not thousands of hours of listening pleasure.

Sadly I doubt he will venture to Australia and Brisbane in particular.
Havent seen who he has in the band, maybe Jah Wobble will show up!!!!
Not sure who will be caring for Nora whilst hes out and about!?

Recent court case with ex Pistols cost him a few $'s

      Cheers

  2. While I have most of this on the albums; it is nice to have this as it is like hitting "random play" on your MP3 player. Thank you again for ALL the time and hard work. Definitely not taken for granted here. I can just run this on my MP3 player and I don't have to spend 3 hours setting it up. Some of us know and appreciate what you do.
