K Tells Vol. 15

K Tells Vol. 15

K tells -

Here's K-tells 15: 'Metal' heads!

A great collection of classic Heavy Metal and Rock.

Heavy Metal - 24 Electrifying Performances (Warner Special Products SP-2001 US) (2022 Remastered Expanded Edition) (2CD) (1974)      Not released by K-tel, but a massively successful and fondly remembered TV advertised album released by Warner Special Products in the US only in 1974.

A recent review I came across:

Recently found a great copy of this LP, I remember having it in high school. Probably the best comp LP of 70's rock EVER. Immediately after a cleaning, I was swept up in its awesomeness... not even through side 1 and you hit Hendrix' "Freedom", the James Gang's "Must Be Love" and Deep Purple's live version of "Smoke on the Water", and not the edited 45 version I was used to. Worth the price just for those tracks alone, and there is SO much more! Grab it if you find a clean copy... you'll not regret it!

This was heavily advertised on TV in 1974. I was 13 and living in the midwest and the album introduced me to some groups that I had never heard. Loved it and played it till I wore it out!  Although this collection is hardly Heavy Metal it is quite possibly the best collection of rock music from this period. Bought second hand a couple of years after its release it has informed my musical experience throughout my life. Worth owning for the full 9 minute version of the Buffalo Springfield's "Bluebird" alone.  It features the super rare nine-minute extended version of the song "Bluebird" by Stephen Stills (consisting of a live jam appended to the studio version), only available on this Warner Special Products LP compilation "Heavy Metal - 24 Electrifying Performances" (Volume 2 in the "Superstars of the 70's" series), released in 1974. It has never been issued on compact disc and is currently out of print.  Now making this a 2CD set, I have added 11 bonus tracks to the end of disc 2. The tracks are all absolute classics by some of the same artists featured on the original album, and all released before 1974, the original album release date.

Disc 1 consists of 18 tracks and has a running time of 79:31 CD length.

Disc 2 consists of 17 tracks and has a running time of 78:06 CD length.

Heavy - 20 Original Hits - 20 Original Stars (K-tel NA-634 AUS - NA 634 NZ - NE 1203 UK) (2022 Remastered Expanded Edition) (1983)       Heavy was released by K-tel in Australia, New Zealand and the UK in 1983. They each had different track listings.  For this 2022 expanded edition I have selected the 20 very best tracks from all three versions, and features all the original unedited 7" single mixes, including a few hard to find tracks. Fully remastered with a new running time of 79:56 CD length.

Masters of Metal - Axe Attack - 20 Original Hits - 20 Original Stars (K-tel NA 669 AUS) (2022 Remastered Expanded Edition) (1984)   Masters of Metal - Axe Attack was released by K-tel in Australia only in 1984. Initially containing 16 smash hit tracks, I have expanded the set to include four more classic 'metal' tracks all released before 1984, the original album release date. This 2022 20 track expanded edition features all the complete original unedited 7" single mixes, fully remastered with a new running time of 78:50 CD length.

Enjoy!
