Janis Lyn Joplin (January 19, 1943 – October 4, 1970) was an American singer-songwriter who sang rock, soul and blues music. One of the most successful and widely known rock stars of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals and "electric" stage presence.

Janis: Little Girl Blue is a 2015 American documentary film directed by Amy J. Berg, about the American singer-songwriter Janis Joplin. It was premiered at the 2015 Venice Film Festival and then shown in the TIFF Docs section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. (Wikipedia)

Musician Cat Power narrates this documentary on Janis Joplin's evolution into a star from letters that Joplin wrote over the years to her friends, family, and collaborators. It is respectful without veering into hagiography and inquisitive without being intrusive, Janis: Little Girl Blue offers an insightful glimpse into the life of a rock 'n' roll legend.

    Fantastic Janis collection, thanks!

    I've loved her pre-rock'n'roll folk recordings for a long time, anyone not familiar with them should definitely check it out.

    Dear Butterboy , my best compliments for your excellent site with compilations from such a wide range of genres. Truly exceptional , I feel so lucky to discover it (guess a little late !).

    I guess, we all notice that lately there's a special interest for great music documentaries even with the participation of famous directors , there's also a highly interesting BBC series for Classic Albums including some true masterpieces !

    If it's possible and you find the time, please upload new links for Janis & Tom Waits documentaries that are inactive , any new music documentary is highly appreciated as well.

      I will try to reestablish these links. Please be patient as it may take a little while for me as the two HD's that housed them became faulty and I now have limited access (trying to do recoveries of 2 x 10Tb disc's takes a lot of time and effort).
