K Tells Vol. 02

K Tells Vol. 02

K-tells....

Widely regarded by many to be the very best K-tel album releases of the 70's, these much sought after albums have never been released on CD.

I decided to take up the challenge and compile these fantastic compilations from scratch using the very latest, highest quality digital remasters released to date.

Many tracks, still to this day are very rare and hard to find. All tracks are the original 7" single releases and not cut short and edited as on the original albums in order to squeeze on so many tracks per side.

Super Bad - 20 Original Hits - 20 Original Stars (K-tel NU 427 US) (2022 Remastered Expanded Edition) (1973)

Super Bad was originally released by K-tel on vinyl, cassette and 8-Track Cartridge in the US in 1973. It was also released in Canada. Dramatically different track listings by country, in fact only ONE track (Timmy Thomas' 'Why Can't We Live Together') features on both compilations! I've added 5 of the best track selections from the Canadian edition to the end of the US edition as bonus tracks.

Super Bad Is Back - 20 Original Hits - 20 Original Stars (K-tel NU 430 US) (2022 Remastered Expanded Edition) (1973)

Super Bad Is Back was originally released by K-tel on vinyl, cassette and 8-Track Cartridge in the US and Canada in 1973. They each had different track listings. I've added 6 of the best track selections from the Canadian edition to the end of the US edition as bonus tracks.

Super Bad - 24 Original Hits - 24 Original Stars (K-tel NE 499 UK) (2022 Remastered Edition) (1974)

Super Bad was also released in the UK, with a different track listing once again, a year later after the US and Canadian versions in 1974. The UK edition features 24 classic soul tracks.

*** As a side note: Super Bad was also released in Australia in 1973. The Australian release has nothing in common with either of the differing UK/USA/Canada compilations. Various - Super Bad or Various - Super Bad, apart from sharing the same album title and cover design. K-tel getting the most out of a single design!  The collection of songs on the Australian release is completely different to either of those releases, which were 100% classic soul based.  info - https://www.discogs.com/release/3760293-Various-Super-Bad

These truly are great compilations, packed with smash hits and many hard to find gems. Soul fans have been crying out for these to be released on CD or as a digital download for years, so here they all are, courtesy of yours truly!

Hope you enjoy! K

  10. I'm glad 'K' is putting these into their respective styles so the Soul boys are separate to the Metal boys etc. Makes it easier to grab 'your' genre. Many thanks to you both :)
