K's FUNK  SPECIAL, VA - The 125 Greatest Funk Songs of All Time (Super Deluxe Edition) (9 x CD's) [2020]

Time to get funky!

Funk was an R&B sub-genre which emerged in African-American communities in the 1960's and became especially popular in the 1970s. The music was marked by an emphasis on strong, rhythmic grooves supported by bass and drum.

It was instrumental in the development of the even more dance-oriented disco music of the 1970's.

Compiled after exhaustive and extensive research, including the songs which feature most on the many many lists of the best and greatest funk tracks ever made: critics lists, readers lists, online discussion forums, TV countdowns, etc.

  • https://davesmusicdatabase.blogspot.com/2020/06/the-top-100-funk-songs-of-all-time.html
  • https://reads-it.com/the-100-best-funk-songs-of-all-time/

Only 100% original mixes: 7", 12" and longer album versions, no later remixes you often see appear on compilations - basically the best and original versions of each song, at the highest and best sounding quality recent remasters released to date.

Many tracks are the original long 12" extended mixes, which truly makes for an authentic collection of how the songs sounded in the dance clubs.  Most official funk compilations out there contain many of the classics, but also feature a lot of junk too.

My goal was to include the very very best of the genre, the cream of the crop, and to add a number of tracks you just never see on compilations due to licensing, music rights issues, etc.

Time to get funky!

Enjoy!

K

  4. Such a great Funk collection! Really like this. So many great tracks. Like everything K does, well researched. A couple of my favorite Funk tracks are missing, but that's because I grew up with a few favorites that probably no one else in the world loves like all of these. Great choices! I sometimes wish I could go in to the mind of K as the picking is done.
